The most practical and self help book - ATOMIC HABITS
ATOMIC HABITS
This is one of the best book I ever read, it helped me to realize my old
bad habits and replace them with the newer once by following step by step
approach mentioned in this book
There is no doubt that we carry
multiple habits both good and bad,
James Clear, in Atomic Habits, talks about practical ways to make some good ones, and break a couple of the bad ones.
"Can one tiny change on daily
basis transform your life? This book clearly explains step-by-step process with
20 chapters on How?
“Habits + Deliberate Practice = Mastery”
Have we realised the way we eat, the way we dress up and brush our teeth have become a habit? Which means there is no conscious efforts done to do all these.
The book is extremely practical, and
for some extent we all know them but have not paid any attention to build a new
and good habit. In this book the author gives pointer on how to actually break
them down and do it without many efforts.
I also realized that habits are necessary for everything- from businesses, to parenting, to self-maintenance, to your professional work, and social life, they play a strong role in every single aspect of my life.
The author also illustrates how associating a good habit with your very identity makes things much easier and more natural to maintain such habits.
It has 20 chapters in total, and they are small in length which makes
the book interesting to reader.
If I could summarize the book in simple 3 points
they would be
·
An
atomic habit is a regular practice or routine that is not only small and easy
to do but is also the source of incredible power; a component of the system of
compound growth.
·
Bad
habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don’t want to change,
but because you have the wrong system for change.
·
Changes
that seem small and unimportant at first will compound into remarkable results
if you’re willing to stick with them for years.
5 Big ideas
1. Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement.
2. If you want better results, then forget about setting goals.
Focus on your system instead.
3. The most effective way to change your habits is to
focus not on what you want to achieve, but on who you wish to become.
4. The Four Laws of Behavior Change are a simple set
of rules we can use to build better habits. They are (1) make it obvious, (2)
make it attractive, (3) make it easy, and (4) make it satisfying.
5. Environment is the invisible hand that shapes human
behavior.
“Getting 1 percent better every day counts for a
lot in the long-run.”
“There
are three layers of behavior change: a change in your outcomes, a
change in your processes, or a change in your identity.”
Any habit can be broken down into a feedback loop
that involves four steps: cue, craving, response,
and reward.”

and (4) make it satisfying.”
Stack your habit with the current one
which you already have
As we all know humans are creatures of
habits, and we do take some of the habits from our friends and family without
being realising if they are good or bad.
Good habits are formed by practise and
not by planning, we must focus on taking action , book also talk about walk
slowly but not back wards means in order to create a habit you have to motivate
your self and to motivate your self you should make your goal interesting.
This bool talks about building a system
to develop good habits and getting rid of the bad ones, by a defined approach
and easy steps broken down to small bits.
It takes time and efforts to become a
best version of yourself and this is done by applying the system which is
written in this book.
In this chapter I learnt the 2 minute
rule, as I used to procrastinate my passion of blogging for years now thinking
that I will be a failure, once I read this book I realised how foolish it is to
accept the failure without even making simple efforts to start blogging, and
this gave me an instant push and thankfully this has become a habit and no
looking back.
It is also true that once any new
learnt lesson becomes a habit, we may face boredom which means no motivation,
in such cases try to create a new habit and stack them to the existing one.
And finally, as a reminder, you only need to get 1
percent better every single day, and you’ll be almost 37 percent better by the
end of the year. Atomic habits. Tiny changes. Remarkable results.
Thanks for reading my book review of “Atomic Habits,” my friends. Have a great day and week
